Flexique Edible Fabric Mix is a massively versatile product that can not only be used to create edible fabric, but can also protect edible images, make wafer paper flexible, act as a food safe barrier and increase the time you have being able to work with Isomalt, gumpaste and chocolate!
Flexique is simple to mix and once made up can be added to thin moulds to create edible fabric. The fabric you can make is both durable yet flexible, meaning you can create ruffles and bows without it cracking or breaking. This is perfect for adding decorations to cakes and creating clothes for cake toppers and figures. It can also be coloured using a small amount of gel colouring.
If you regularly create edible images then Flexique is great for preserving their quality. By brushing on the mix it will stop the ink from smudging and keep your sheet from becoming brittle.
You can also brush Flexique onto wafer paper and within 10-15 minutes of it drying will become flexible with the properties and texture of fabric. This means the design on your wafer paper will be the design on your edible fabric. We recommend using 0 grade or AD weight wafer paper for best results which is thinner than some EU wafer paper.
If you are looking to create authentic bark and wood effects, then try brushing Flexique onto chocolate. Once dry you will be left with an authentic wood effect, great for woodland themed cakes. You can even mix it with Isomalt, florist paste or chocolate to increase the time that you have to work with that medium.
Flexique can be used to create leaves and petals that are delicate yet durable. They will not break but can also be bent and shaped to create edible flowers and bouquets.
When spread onto sugarpaste, florist paste etc that has been glazed, it forms a food safe barrier allowing you to attach non edible items to your cake whilst still keeping the cake sanitary.
How To use:
1. Mix Part A with 125ml of water and mix thoroughly.
2. Cover and leave from 15 minutes to overnight.
3. Heat the mixture in the microwave in 15 second bursts until everything is liquid. DO NOT BOIL as it may overflow.
4. Ensure any white bubbles are removed from the liquid, add Part B to the mixture and mix thoroughly.
5. Add any colours or flavours. REMEMBER: A little goes a long way when adding these to your mixture.
6. Flexique is ready to use! If the mixture starts to thicken then heat again until liquid.
Keep Flexique refrigerated after mixing.
